2007 Collings MF5 Deluxe V - Satin/Wide Nut

2007 Collings MF5 Deluxe V in very good condition. There are some cosmetic blemishes in the form of scratches and dings but nothing too bad and nothing that takes away from the overall beauty of this instrument.

This is a powerhouse mandolin with a loud, wide open voice. The tone is seasoned and mature with beautiful nuance and complexity in every register. This is a mandolin that will be heard loud and clear over any ensemble of instruments, but also responds wonderfully with a light touch adding a whole other layer of dynamics. We just performed an in-house set up to return the mandolin to Collings shop specifications and it plays wonderfully in all positions with no issues whatsoever.

This is a rare combination and a very unique piece of Collings' mandolin history. The varnish finish was done with a satin patina and the headstock features the very rare "The Collings" logo with a full fern inlay. The one piece back on this mandolin is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen (the pictures don't do it justice) with flame, bubble, and quilt figure all in one piece. We have a feeling that Collings put everything they had into this one!

Adirondack spruce top, Sugar maple back/sides/neck, satin varnish finish, radiused ebony fretboard with pearl position markers, ebony adjustable bridge, fully bound in triple binding, ebony pegged with "The Collings" and full fern inlay, adjustable truss rod with ebony cover plate, engraved "The Collings" James tailpiece, Waverly tuners w/pearl buttons, EVO frets, ebony endpin with pearl eye, 1-3/16" bone nut. Comes with its original hardshell case.

*this mandolin was originally fitted with a pick guard mounted in two small holes under the fretboard extension. It was removed and misplaced by the previous owner. If the new owner chooses, they are available to order from Collings and very easy to install.
